Adam introduced me to “fat balls” a few years ago when he was following Mark Sisson, aka Primal Guy's blog and podcast. If you’re unfamiliar with fat balls/bliss balls/fatbombs, you can read more about them here. They’re v trendy rn. 🤣 (Translation: They're very trendy right now)
I'm not sure if these are “in the spirit” of the whole30, but I love having these on hand. If I’m running out the door and feel like I need a little something to tide me over, I grab a ball or two! This recipe is loaded with healthy fats, superfoods and my favorite tahini. They're garnished in shredded coconut and hemps seeds but you can skip the garnish if you don't already have those ingredients on hand. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
1 cup raw almonds
1 cup raw cashews
¼ cup tahini (seed and mill is my favorite brand and what I use)
3 large dates
1 Tbs. cacao powder
5 Tbs. coconut manna (coconut butter, softened)
1.5 tsp. cinnamon
Optional* shredded coconut and hemp seeds to garnish.
1) Process all ingredients in a food processor until a ball of dough forms and all ingredients are evenly and consistently blended.
2) Gently roll them into balls. I like to use this oxo cookie scoop to portion out each ball. This way they’re consistent in size and easily roll once scooped. Roll them in some shredded coconut or hemps seeds for an added crunch and 😍 factor.
Refrigerate and enjoy while they last!
