October has been a very busy month, so I was thrilled to squeeze in a last minute trip to the idyllic Tops’l Farm for a two-night stay during their last weekend of the season! Tops’l farm is a camp and farm retreat destination on the banks of the Medomak river in Waldoboro, Maine. Their property spans over 80 acres and their adorable, luxury A-frame cabins and luxury canvas tents are nestled in the woods. With fall foliage at it’s peak, I couldn’t resist one last road trip up north. I convinced my friend Suzanne to join along since Adam was working.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by Sarah Pike, the owner. She welcomed me with a giant smile + hug and loaded me up with some necessities like firewood, a s’mores kit with homemade marshmallows, a bottle of their own hard cider and coffee and donuts for the morning. Things were off to a good start! After unloading my stuff from the car, I made my way to our cabin. We stayed in cabin number 4 which was conveniently located across from the bathhouse.
Our cabin had most everything we needed to stay warm on a chilly fall night: wool blankets, bedding and extra blankets. The temps were supposed to drop to the 30’s that weekend so we planned ahead and brought sleeping bags, hand and feet warmers, hats, gloves, and all the wool layers. It turned out very cozy and comfortable both nights with the proper layers. The next morning we made coffee and had some donuts and my all-time favorite frittata that I made ahead for breakfast. Tops’l has french presses, mugs, a kettle to boil water and plenty of other things on hand to make cooking a part of your experience which we really appreciated. I think one of our biggest concerns was, what are we going to eat?! We also had plenty of snacks on hand and Suzanne brought a delicious curry that she’d made ahead that we warmed up on a charcoal grill that night. No one starved!
As soon as it got dark we got a fire going outside our cabin. Luckily, Suzanne handled all of our fire making because I’ve never had to make my own fire. :) (I should probably learn one day) You can’t really have a camp fire without s’mores so we roasted up some of Tops’l Farms homemade marshmallows and they were delicious! We had a s’mores kit waiting for us with the perfect amount for the two of us. I love s’mores and the smell of campfire so much. After we waited for the fire to go out we snuggled into our beds for the night. Our first day flew by!
The next day Suzanne cooked a veggie hash over a fire, we styled and took some photos for a mutual client, drank some wine and took a walk around the property. I’d hoped to explore more of the area but my foot wasn’t quite up for some of the terrain across the way. I really can’t wait to go back to this magical little camp next summer!
They also have luxury tents which we didn’t sleep in but we did get to style the front porch and take some photos for fun! Suzanne gets all the styling credits here.
Tops’l Farms is closed for the remainder of the 2018 season but you can book a stay for 2019 starting on March 15, 2019.
Have any of you ever glamped? This was my first time and I loved it! If you’re not down for roughing it, this is a very luxurious, comfortable way to experience a weekend in the woods.
Thank you Tops’l Farm for collaborating on this stay. As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support my blog!
