Punta Mita, Mexico

LUXURY STAY AT CASA JOYA DEL MAR

Last month I received a last minute invitation to celebrate a family members birthday in Punta Mita, Mexico. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I jumped at the chance to join the party and explore a part of Mexico that I'd never been to!

Punta Mita is a former fishing village turned picture perfect luxury resort town. It's about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta and was pretty convenient to get to from Boston. I bought a last minute ticket on American Airlines via Chicago for less than $200 one-way. Not something you should plan for, but it was a nice surprise!

From the moment I arrived at Casa Joya Del Mar, a picturesque luxury villa on one of the best golf courses in the world, my every need was met. Casa Joya del Mar is a private 6 bedroom ocean view villa within the prestigious gated community of Punta Mita and is located within the inner gates of Lagos del Mar Estates.

If you're lucky enough to stay at Casa Joya Del Mar, be sure to request Francisco's fish tacos! They're to die for.

When I felt like exploring beyond the villa and it's gates, I hopped in a golf cart and made the 5 minute trek to the beach club for a stroll on the beach and a bite to eat.

One of my favorite finds while out exploring was the Gelato Shack at the Four Seasons. After a paleta I would eventually make my way back to the house for some poolside reading and relaxing.

Casa Joya del Mar has a private chef who comes to the house and cooks for special occasions and this my friends, was the highlight of the entire trip for me. Chef Israel has cooked all over the world and was more than happy to let me shadow him in the kitchen while he prepared these amazing enchiladas and chile rellenos. Such a treat!

The mornings were reserved for long walks to work off all of the Mexican food and treats. On my last day in Punta Mita I took a hike up to the top of this hill on the Four Seasons property for a panoramic view.

I can’t wait to return one day to Casa Joya del Mar and Punta Mita!
